When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. When Chris Brown loses his mind and explodes on Good Morning America … welcome him back to talk about it?

ABC was quite forgiving after the singer’s tirade this week, keeping his Dancing With the Stars visit on the docket and even inviting him back to GMA.

The reason isn’t that they want it to go away, reports a source. They want to “milk this event for everything its worth” news standards be damned.

In the wake of his Good Morning America trip, during which Robin Roberts’ questions about Rihanna set him off, ABC wonders if there’s more potential here.

There have even been internal discussions about “orchestrating Chris Brown talking to Rihanna for the first time.” This is considered “a top get at the network.”

Guess that’s not a huge shock, as all things Brown have electrified the media so much. As for who the interviewer would be if this came to fruition? Easy call!

“It would be Robin Roberts,” the insider said matter-of-factly.

She’s been on a roll lately, with Tiger Woods, Billy Ray and Chris all stopping by for memorable interviews (memorable in very different ways, but still).

“It’s all about the ratings,” replied my ABC source. “At all other costs.”

As for whether the stars themselves would go for this stunt, neither has commented. Chris doesn’t even have a rep TO comment for him at the moment!

But seriously. It’s hard to see him rushing back to ABC. Chris felt so exploited that he SMASHED A WINDOW WITH A CHAIR in a fit of rage, after all.

And from Rihanna’s perspective, what just happened must hit close to home. Both seeing Chris sweaty and shirtless and what he did to that window. Jeepers.

Some supporters claim he was ambushed Tuesday on Good Morning America, but the questions by Robin Roberts that preceded Chris Brown’s meltdown were approved by the singer before the interview, according to reports.

Brown FLIPPED afterward, allegedly smashing a dressing room window.

Roberts insists GMA asked in advance of she could pose “a few questions” about Rihanna, and Chris approved. She adds, “I’m pulling for the guy.”

As for the broken window, sources say no one in the studio saw Chris throw a chair into the window, but he was definitely in the dressing room at the time.

Staffers called the cops after Chris Brown’s tirade, which ended with him storming out in a shirtless huff, to document the broken window in the aftermath.

Whatever took place, shards of glass went flying onto the street, which potentially constitutes two crimes – vandalism and assault (on the passersby below).

No word yet on how seriously police plan on taking this, but Chris, who’s still on probation in the Rihanna battery case, could be on thin ice as a result.

The NYPD has yet to take action, and may not unless ABC wants to press charges and actively gets them involved. Either way, not great for Chris’ image.

Chris Brown caused a bit of a stir late last week with a request to have the restraining order lifted against him. The order bars any contact with Rihanna.

The singer’s rep is shooting down speculation that his lawyer made the request for any particular reason – such as a rendezvous with Ri at the Grammys.

Not so, says his camp. It’s just the next step in the process of Chris completing the terms of his sentence and moving forward with clearing his name.

Tammy Brook, a rep for Brown, insists that there was no specific motive, and “the lifting of the restraining order is part of the ongoing legal proceedings.”

“The date was scheduled months ago. Chris Brown is thankful for his nominations, but due to scheduling conflicts, [won't] attend the Grammys.”

As part of the Rihanna assault case, Brown’s attorney asked the judge to reduce the “stay away” order against him to a “do not annoy” order.

While the judge again praised Brown for his progress, the ruling was put off until a later date because Rihanna’s attorney couldn’t be reached.

Chris Brown is looking to get the restraining order against him lifted. It’s been in place since he pummeled Rihanna senseless prior to the 2009 Grammys.

His lawyer, Mark Geragos, told Judge Patricia Schnegg that Brown did 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling and requested that the order be lifted.

“It makes it difficult at award shows and such,” Geragos said.

Judge Schnegg did not immediately grant his request but did suggest a modification of it, pending the approval of Rihanna’s attorney, David Etra.

The decision to modify the restraining order will be filed in court at a later date. The judge did praise Brown again for his commitment, however.

In fact, she was so pleased, she told Brown that he can come in “next time you’re in town” instead of scheduling a future progress report hearing.

To date, Brown has done 581 hours of community labor and domestic violence counseling. Aside from the occasional Raz B feud, he’s been great.

He remains on probation through mid-2014.
